Top 10 List

In MCOM this week, I had my last presentation. I really didn't not like presenting- at all. However, I do feel a lot more confident in my presenting skills and hope that I will be able to remember all the things I've learned for future presentations. My top 10 favorite things I learned in this class are:

  1. Know your audience.
  2. Know what you are presenting on inside and out.
  3. Sometimes, you have to adapt.
  4. How to make my resume stand out.
  5. Read the rubric if you want to get full points.
  6. How to work in a group.
  7. Remote meetings are and awesome way to get all your group together
  8. Filler words are the devil- don't use them.
  9. Know when to use your hands and when to not use your hands.
  10. You are not just being interviewed- you are interview them as well.
I really did learn a lot this semester. However, my favorite part of this class was the people in it. I loved how I was able to know everyone's name and was able to joke around and ask for help when I needed it. At BYU, that doesn't happen very often. I wish more classes were like this one. So to all my fellow classmates, thanks for a fun semester! You all are awesome!

  1. I was not a fan of presenting either. One difference I noticed from good presentations and not so good presentations was the confidence the presenter had in the topic they were sharing. If they were sharing what they knew and genuinely tried, the minor mistakes didn't seem to matter. I remember one presentation that was so interesting and the topic was presented in a clear way, I didn't even noticed the little things.

    Anyway, good luck on finals!

  2. Your group can definitely attest to adapting when you did your chapter presentation! Presenting makes me nervous but I also feel like I'm accomplishing something when I face it because it's helping me overcome my fears. You did great! Keep rockin' socks :)
