I really enjoyed doing the mock interviews in class on Tuesday. What helped me the most was just gaining more confidence in interviewing. When interviewing, you need to be yourself. I want someone to hire me because they want me as I am; I don't ever want to pretend to be something I'm not. I have just recently applied for a new job and am hoping to get an interview. I am excited to use the confidence that I have gained with my interviewing technique. A big thank you to Corinne and Nathan for being my interview partners!
I have also been able to break my habit of saying "um!" (For the most part anyways.) Since that has been one of my focuses these past couple of weeks, I have noticed it in other people and man, does it annoy me! I realize how distracting it is and how much your credibility diminishes when you use filler words.
I found this video and thought it was helpful. It goes along with our theme of interviews. Enjoy!
Thanks Ashley! I felt like the video was very helpful and reminded me of many things that we talked about in class. They talked about success stories, which I feel are the same as par stories as well as having questions for your employer. That is one thing I need to work on!
ReplyDeleteI think it's very true that we need to be ourselves when we're being interviewed. People can sense when others aren't being genuine, and if an interviewer feels that, then they probably won't get a job.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you broke your habit of saying "um" because now we will have a great presentation! Good job.
