Mirror Mirror

In class this week, I found the activity where we mirrored each other very interesting. It just made me want to stand there and do nothing- but I feel as if that would be just as awkward as some of the hand gestures people were using. The lesson that I learned from this is that there has to be a balance. You can't always to nothing and you can't always do something with your hands. I guess it comes back to all things in moderation, right? (Haha!) But seriously; in order to be an effective presenter you have to know when to use your hands and when to stand still. I think the book hit it spot on when it said, "nothing but practice helps you get better." I'm excited to practice so I can become a more effective speaker.

  1. Haha I totally felt the exact same way when we did the mirror activity. I felt so awkward! It was just weird. But you did well explaining why it's awkward and that we need to use our hand gestures wisely. Great job girl!

  2. I definitely felt the same way. I feel like I was doing things that I normally wouldn't do while presenting just because I felt so awkward. It's definitely something to pay attention to though, so you don't look ridiculous while in front of a group!

  3. I thought it was amusing to watch my partner feel self-conscience and appear not quite sure what to do while I mimicked her, but I understand what you mean. The presentations each of our groups get to do will be an interesting way to see what we have learned from all this. I'm just hoping I don't look ridiculous as I'm sure everyone is hoping they don't look ridiculous when they present either.
